Your teens in Grades 9 and 10 are probably studying it in school. And now they, and the rest of the family, can see it performed live. It’s the Shakespeare Street Theatre’s production of Romeo and Juliet.
Shakespeare’s popular tale of tragic young lovers and feuding families unfolds at The Showplace Performance Centre on March 19 at 10 am and 1 pm and on March 21st at 10 am, 1 pm and 7 pm.
The colourful and enjoyable production, performed by a talented cast of local youth and adult actors, includes fight choreography, traditional songs, music and dance.
Shakespeare Street Theatre’s version of the play takes place in Scotland in the 1790s after the industrial revolution. Some of the male characters have also been changed to female to modernize the story.
While the play contains no adult content, it is a tragedy and is therefore recommended for kids over the age of eight.
